New Paper Published in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics

We are pleased to share that our new paper,”A systematic framework for harmonic set selection in multiplexed magnetic particle spectroscopy,” has been published in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics. In this work, we address a key challenge in magnetic particle spectroscopy (MPS)-based biosensing: robust multiplexed detection. While MPS offers high sensitivity, matrix-free detection, and strong potential for point-of-care diagnostics, its broader use in complex bioassays has been limited by the difficulty of accurately separating multiple analyte signals. Our study systematically investigates truncated spectral separation strategies for multiplexed MPS across binary, ternary, and quaternary mixtures of distinct magnetic nanoparticle labels. By evaluating a wide range of harmonic component combinations under identical experimental conditions, we show that the absolute determinant of the truncated reference matrix can serve as an effective criterion for selecting harmonic sets that minimize decoding error.

This harmonic selection framework provides practical guidance for improving the accuracy, robustness, and scalability of multiplexed MPS bioassays, supporting future development of more efficient magnetic biosensing platforms for biomedical diagnostics.
